On the Monday after Communion the girls had the opportunity to strut their stuff around all the classes in the school. The classes and teachers were amazed at how well turned out we all looked.
On Tuesday 15th May we had a presentation of internet safety. We learned that we should have a Chat Buddy which is an adult we can go to talk to if we are worried about anything online. We also learned that we should never put up or write anything online that we wouldn't wear on a tee-shirt out in public. The girls also learned that there are three steps that must be remembered if anything untoward occurs online- STOP, BLOCK, TELL.
Finally we were also given advice about the amount of time spent online or on devices-for every one thing we do online or game we play, we should do 5 other things we enjoy offline such as painting, reading, dancing, drawing, writing and playing with friends.
Thanks to Karl from Zeeko Academy for all the brilliant advice and it certainly gave the girls some food for thought.
Congratulations to all the girls who received their First Holy Communion on Saturday 12th May in Star of the Sea Church in Mornington. They all sang and read fabulously. Well done girls and thanks to all those who helped make the day so special.
This week we weere looking at the history of our school. It started with a hedge school and then relocated to an unknown building. It then moved again to the present 'red brick building' which consisted of two classrooms, one for the girls and one for the boys. Each pupil had to bring a sod of turf to keep the fires going. The school moved again to the current site and finally after enduring many years of being in prefabs, our brand new school was built.
We walked up to the 'red brick building' this week and were welcomed warmly in by the current occupants. We had a great opportunity to compare and contrast the two buildings. We also enjoyed the walk which tied in nicely with our Active Week.
We read the story of the Lost Puppy in The Green Genie. In the story Dusty goes missing and Granda makes posters to help find her. Therefore we decided to make our own versions. See our end results.
This week we welcomed Karina to our class. We were delighted and excited to meet her and we are so pleased to have her join our class. Fáilte Karina.
