Artist of the Week- Daisy.
Well done to everyone who sent me your pictures. I was blown away with the standard. My brother had a very tough time picking but eventually he picked Daisy's work. Well done Daisy, I've emailed you your h/w pass.
I can't wait to see everyone's art this week on Friday. Remember there's a homework pass at stake!!! Have a good week everyone.
Oh, btw I'm going to start putting up the Master your Maths corrections each day as then if you're stuck on something, it might help you for the next day. Please correct as you go along. Remember if I can be of any help, please contact me.
Ms. Colgan

Hello girls,
I hope you are all keeping well and enjoying the fact that we are allowed venture up to 5km from our homes for exercise. I've heard lots of you are walking your dogs, cycling and soaking up this wonderful spell of good weather we are experiencing. It makes everything so much easier when you have blue skies above you.
Thank you to all those who have submitted your Nature Art to me. I have a VERY special person judging the entries. I have decided to be like Ireland and stay neutral. My brother will be closely looking at your beautiful artwork. I will let you know the result tomorrow.
Last week, the school staff came together and wanted to do something nice to cheer you all up and put the smiles back on your faces. Ms. Meagher put together a beautiful video which Mrs McCloughan sent to your parents/guardians. I will leave link below incase you didn't get to see it.
Hope you spotted the potatoes and Michael Tea Higgins making a cameo. But did you see Danielle's pictures/videos- wasn't she fab? Skating, flying kites, gardening and doing dances with her daughter. She definitely needs to enter Britain's Got Talent next year.
Ms Trench looked very well playing football, I think her native Mayo will be calling her up very soon to help claim the All Ireland title whenever the championship is played.
Saturday morning I got up early to see the Sunrise for the Darkness into Light appeal. It was a gorgeous morning and I took some pictures which I'll post below and some that I have taken during lockdown. I miss the freedom of just being able to get up and go somewhere with my camera and take photos. I'm sure you miss being able to do loads of things too but we are all being heroes by following government guidelines.
Speaking of the government, Emma has a new bestie. She has been writing letters to Leo Varadkar and she got a letter back. I have put a photo of it in the Home Gallery Section.
I know I have said it before but it has been great to hear from you all. I know Aoife has been playing the Ukulele, Kate's dog helped her with her art this week, Rachel has been baking banana bread with big sister Leah, Agata is playing with Hubert, Holly K painstakingly put individual blades of grass on her picture. Clodagh has been beach walking and bee spotting, Miya has been working so hard at her writing, Zoha has been doing excellent at her maths and moving house. Abbey and Anna have been working outside and that I mixed up who their work belonged to but they forgave me!! Caitlin and her brother are having great fun doing their homework and finishing early on a Friday. Isla has been practising the flute and can play Home Alone. Elizaveta has been working hard on her maths. Lucy has been making meringues with her sister which look divine. This is just the news from this week. If I haven't mentioned you, forgive me and why not get in touch again and fill me in on your latest adventures.
Results are in...........
1st position of Bird Quiz is MagicOstrich
1st position of the Titanic Quiz is FlyingMacaw.
Could ye let me know who the winners are by email? Thanks
Mind yourselves girls and keep up all the fantastic efforts. I know it's not easy but it is worth it.
Missing you all SO much,
Ms. Colgan.

4th May,
Hello girls, I really hope you are doing well and enjoying the sunshine. I am sitting out doing lots of reading, listening to music and some gardening. I'm afraid whoever said gardening is relaxing, I don't agree with them!!
The squirrels are coming and greeting me each morning and keeping me company. I'm a bit like Mary Poppins!
I loved reading all your experiences of the Co-Vid and how you are spending your time. From reading and baking to having races with brothers and collecting tadpoles, there was lots of variety. If you didn't get a chance to send it, there's still time.
I meant to write my own piece but I'm afraid I didn't get to it. Hopefully this week, I'll sit down and write it and share it with you.
For Art this week, I decided to add a competitive aspect to it. See below for details. You don't have to leave it until Friday, you can do it any day this week. I may even do my own.
I had my first Ukulele lesson this week on Wednesday. It is not as easy as I thought. I used to play the guitar when I was younger and it is hard to get used to the notes and the instrument being smaller. It is going to take lots of practice but hopefully I'm get there.
Last Friday, as you all are probably aware by now, we received the bad news from Leo that we will not be going back to school until September. I'll be honest, my heart sank when I heard this news and I felt sad. I'm sure most of you felt the same and that's okay.
I was so looking forward to being back with all 33 of you, seeing and catching up with you. I also know that you were looking forward to being back in 4th Class and seeing your friends and finishing off the year with a bang.
It is disappointing but we have to keep everyone safe. September will come and we will be together albeit in different circumstances.
Now I have a favour to ask each of you. We have about 7 weeks left until the summer holidays and I'm asking you to work as hard as you can until then. Of course, circumstances permitting.
We do not want all our hard work from September until now to go to waste. We don't want all your effort and diligence to count for nothing.
I'm asking that you keep doing your best as it will make all the difference in 5th class and you want to do yourselves proud in September.
I will keep in touch and I want to hear from you regularly and lets enjoy these last few weeks together.
I know it is not easy sometimes to motivate yourself to sit down and get some work done but it will be worth it. I promise it will.
I'm looking forward to seeing your art this week and I would love if you sent me a photo of how you got on in maths this week-Planet Maths and Master your Maths.
If you are unsure of anything or have any problems, please let me know.
Happy birthday this week to Evelina and Amy. Have a lovely day girls and enjoy.xx
Have a lovely week and enjoy the good weather. Keep safe, wash your hands, keep up the social distancing and the fact we can go up to 5k away from your house.

-Project
This week, we read about the inspirational lady Adi Roche. Many people look up to Adi and admire her for her charity work. Therefore I want you to pick someone you admire, look up to or that you aspire to be like. It can be someone in your home life or in the sport/literary/artistic/fashion/ celebrity world. You heard about plenty in your work with Ms.McManus and Weaving Wellbeing. We also have quotes on our class wall from some pretty aspirational people. It can not be yourself.
Now when you have someone in mind, I want you to do a mini- project on them. The project can be in any form such as on paper/card, in the shape of art work, in your homework copy or on Powerpoint/Google Slides if you have access to a computer and know how to use Powerpoint/Google Slides. I DO NOT WANT YOU GOING TO SHOPS TO BUY EXTRA MATERIALS OR ANNOYING PARENTS TO HELP YOU WITH POWERPOINTS-PLEASE USE WHAT YOU HAVE AT HOME AND WHAT YOU ARE FAMILIAR WITH.
Please research your chosen person and find out the following things about them:
-Name+ nationality
- Age+ family
- Occupation
- How did you hear about them?
- What is it you admire about them?
- Why do you aspire to be like them?
- Any other information you might find out and you think your classmates might like to know.
-Include a picture or two if you can.
Then when you have it completed, I want you to practice presenting your findings out loud. Try and remember facts without relying on reading the facts.. You could present it to your family, pets or in front of the mirror. Please bring project in with you when we return to school.
