Letter from Danielle
A big hello to Miss Colgan & to all the 4th Class girls,
I hope you have all been keeping really well & are doing ok at the minute.
Miss Colgan how are the potatoes? I hope you're minding them & giving them lots of T.L.C.
I'm sure you're all busy, between doing your work for teacher & helping out at home.
Great girls each one of you! I miss you all and the fun we have every day.
I just thought I would say a quick hello and let you know what I've been up to. I am keeping well and trying to keep busy by walking my dog Ruby on the beach and doing some gardening (when the butterflies aren't out, only you girls know my secret ;-)) I'm also learning to bake some new recipes. Yum yum!,
My daughter was also trying to teach me some Tik Tok dances , but she's not too impressed with my dancing.
I painted my garden sheds and was inspired by Agata to paint my very first picture although it's not nearly as good as any of the super 4th class masterpieces I've seen.
I'm trying to practice going on my skates.... you girls would think it's very funny, I'm wobbly & falling..........a lot!!! But I'm having lots of fun trying to get better.
Who knows by the time I see you again I may be good enough to sell my car & be able to skate to and from school each day .................although I don't think that's likely.
It's so strange not being in school with you all at the minute and I'm missing all my 4th class super girlies but looking forward to when we can all be together again soon,
Stay safe and keep smiling girls,
Thinking of you all and your families,
Danielle xx

> This week, we are going to be moving onto the topic of Length and Perimeter. This is new to us so I'm going to leave plenty of links and tips to help you.
Perimeter is the outside measurement of a shape. So when we do our Daily Mile in school in the Basketball yard, we run on the white line- this marks the perimeter of the basketball court. The skirting board in your sitting room marks the perimeter of the room. So Perimeter is the distance around the outside of a shape. To get the shape of a shape we add up the length of its sides.
So:
If a triangle has one side 12cm, its perimeter will be 12+12+12= 36cm because a triangle has three sides.
if a square has one side 4cm, its perimeter will be 4+4+4+4= 16cm because a square has four sides.
When we are covering this topic this week, I recommend drawing the shape and filling the information that we do know before finding out information we don't know.

Please note:
If you are given the total perimeter of a shape, you divide that number by the number of sides the shape has as the sides will most likely be equal.
For example, the total perimeter of a triangle is 30cm. You divide 30 by 3 so each side is 10cm.
If the total perimeter of a square is 36cm, you divide 36 by 4 so each side is 9cm.
If the total perimeter of an octagon is 88cm, you divide 88 by 8 so each side is 11cm.
